‘0.20787 95763 50761 90854 6955…’ is one of a set of details from a much larger work entitled ‘142,857’ created at 1.59 p.m. on March 14, 2007. The series deals with the visualisation and sonification of data. In this case SoundHack is used to apply a sound header to a PDF. The soundfile header is then converted into a Raw pixel image.

alorenz, Berlin/Vienna | Tweed [2002/2008]
Template – T.002
tweed: 1847 (perhaps as early as 1831), a trade name said to have developed from a misreading of ‘tweel’, Scottish variant of ‘twill’, “cloth woven in parallel diagonal lines”.
Derived from ‘Untitled (Mutek 2002)’, a generative application written in Max/MSP. The basic principle of it is that of a broken dotmatrix printer: a small irregular pattern is written line by line in gradually shifting colours, and due to a programming error – a wrong offset in its local matrix – slowly-changing interferences emerge where the pattern overwrites itself.

‘Basic English’ uses Charles K. Ogden’s 850 word Basic English Vocabulary to communicate through the submission of hourly automated requests, similar to those of a computer virus or spyware application.
The responses, found paragraphs devoid of their original context, are re-purposed and publicly broadcast at http://twitter.com/kove

One of a series of works exploring imagery associated with unsolicited bulk email. The series has a particular focus on distressed imagery, recognisable fragments buried under clouds and strata of digital noise. ‘I6368GD904’ suggests a contemporary, found form of impressionism.
